Day 2 - London is Calling...

So almost all of us have made it to London and assuming the last of the Kinkora group has just landed, they will be joining us shortly near Piccadilly.  People are tired but in good spirits and we have a long wait ahead of us in customs but all should be good.  After meeting up with our Tour Director's for the week, the two best that Europe has to offer, Tom Quinn and David Harrod.  These gentlemen are the ones that are solely responsible for planning each and everyday that we are abroad on our tour, right down to every minute.
Our first stop is the Imperial War Museum after picking up our coach, that we gladly find out that we have for the entire day....that means less walking!!!!  The Imperial War Museum is a great place to start the tour because it is very interactive and user friendly and has something for everyone.  It has full size jets and spitfires hanging from the ceiling but is not just only for the history buff.  The kids have been hanging in pretty good and the sun has come out and it is about 13 C so the weather is great and seems to be helping the kids gain steam throughout the day.  Be prepared for a few British knick-knacks around your house because it seems that money is burning a hole in their pockets.

This museum is made up of 6 floors of very different themes about conflicts that the United Kingdom has been involved in.  Much of the museum has a very human touch to it and nothing is more evident that the 5th floor display about the Holocaust.  I can remember our Vimy 85th visit and the students were awestruck at the displays of clothes and artifacts from Jewish families that were exterminated during the German conquest of Europe during WWII.  The end of the display is made up of a scale model of the Auschwitz death camp. The kids are off to a great start and now were are heading to Piccadilly for some shopping time prior to supper, fish and chips in a medieval setting.

Following a couple of hours in the Square we are off to supper at the Ivory House at St. Katherine's Docks for a traditional fish and chips meal.  I have to say that the kids are doing great again but the tiredness is starting to set in, for all of us.  Once we finish supper we are heading for our final walk of the day to the famous Tower Bridge and some very cool views of the Thames and this area of London.  I am going to sign off here very soon and simply give you an update of tomorrow's day ahead of us.  Not very exciting writing today but I honestly have not been in bed since Saturday night and it's after midnight and I need to get a few hours sleep.  I will also leave you with a couple of the pics of the day and will get the kids to add more when we get the time!!  Thanks and I promise to make it a little more exciting!!!
